DIRECTIONS TO THE TREE
The Tree is in the east end of Beijing in popular
Sanlitun, close to the main Embassy Districts
between the 2nd and 3rd ring roads. Major landmarks close by are
the Workers Stadium 'Gongti' (500 meters west),
City Hotel (300 meters west), Great Dragon 'Zhaolong' Hotel (300
meters east), Sanlitun Hospital 三里屯医院
(across the street), and Sanlitun Police Station 三里屯派出所
(directly behind the bar).
From the 2nd Ring road and the Center:
From Dongsishitiao Exit of the 2nd
ring road, and the Dongsishitiao metro exit (Swissôtel and
Poly Plaza), travel East towards the 3rd ring road along Gonrentiyuchang
Bei Lu. It is a 20 minute walk. You can take bus #115, #734, #834,
#113 to 'Sanlitun'. Travel past the Workers Gymnasium and then
the Workers Stadium on your right, and straight over the 2nd set
of traffic lights, near to the City Hotel and
Yashow Clothing Market. At the next set of lights
you need to turn left onto Sanlitun Lu and then turn left onto
Bei Sanlitun Nan (if you reach 3.3 you've gone too far). Turn
right at Aperitivo, then left after Poacher's (if you reach the
back of 3.3 you've gone too far!) and follow the road around.
You will pass Fish Nation, Kai Club and if you look up you will
see 'The Tree' around the corner. Looking at the map you can see
there are a few short cuts, but the route outlined above brings
you in on the bigger roads. Note that cars are not allowed entry
into Bei Sanlitun Nan from Xindong Lu and that taxi's are not
allowed to drive north up Sanlitun bar street. Coming by car it
may be easier to travel along Dongzhimenwai Dajie and turn into
Sanlitun Bar street, as described below.
From 3rd Ring Road and the East
Exit at Nongzhan Qiao and drive towards
the centre of Beijing along Dongzhimen Wai Dajie. Turn left at
the traffic lights onto Sanlitun Lu, and then right into Sanlitun
Jiuba Jie Beili to get behind the 3.3 building. Then right before
Poachers and follow the road around. You will pass Fish Nation,
Kai Club and look up to see The Tree around the corner.
